Swollowed by Darkness

So, I live in California, and yesterday California decided to attack the electricity. All over California were major power outages. The area I live in was, from what I've seen, the worst effected. There were over 5,000 people effected by the power outage.

But the best part? The best part was the fact that the city I live in was oddly effected. The north western half of it was completely out. No lights, no signal lights even. It was crazy. Especially when my family and I decided to drive around town to see what was going on. It was hilarious to drive through the darkened streets, then suddenly come the the alive parts. The parts that everyone seemed to be visiting because no once could cook, so they went to all the working fast food chains and restaurants.

It was great. Except my daughter was a bit confused. She kept asking when the lights would come back on, or if they would just turn back on when the sun came up in the morning. She seemed to think that the sun had effected the lights, even though the power went out before the sun went down.

It took them nearly five hours to get our power back on. I had a lot of fun with it, my family... not so much. But whatever. It was a great excuse to light all my yummy smelling candles and read by candle light. I felt like I was transported in time. Until my husband got hungry and we went for pizza in the living part of town.

So, that was how my week's gone thus far. Just an update on life stuff. Book stuff is going pretty good. We're hoping to stay on track.

Goodnight to everyone!
